It’s the Little Things

I’m thankful for the pattering of raindrops on my window. I’m thankful for siblings who never cease to make me smile. I’m thankful for those random memories that make me burst into laughter in the middle of the night. I’m thankful for the clacking sound of keyboards. I’m thankful for rainbows that remind me that storms can turn into beauty. I’m thankful for the magical smell of books. I’m thankful for Owl City music. I’m thankful for the ever going music birds provide for the outdoors. I’m thankful for the cozy smell of coffee. I’m thankful for pizza. I’m thankful…

Over the Cliff and Through the Word Counters to NaNo Land We Go

Once Upon a Time. . . I lost my mind. 100,000 words were hit today. Hit my life right off a cliff. My sanity was already down there, of course. Sometimes I lean over the cliff and wave at them fondly. Then I go back to writing. Because I’m not finished yet! I made my goal of doing a double NaNo, but I also had a goal of writing at least 2k words every single day of the month. And I’ve got 9 more days of that. But now it’s not a matter of getting the words, instead it’s just…

Something Makes Me Think I Should Be Writing

We have made it, people! We have come to the halfway point. Half of NaNoWriMo is behind us! By this time, a lot of us are experiencing the “halfway point blues”. The thought that we still have a whole other half of a month to go is a bit overwhelming. Let’s not look at it that way though. Instead, we should be saying we only have half a month left! We should be looking at all the words we’ve already written, thinking of all the accomplishments we have made. Just half a month left! Don’t give up! Write those beautiful…

The Insanity Sets In

So, we’ve survived the first week of NaNo! *cheers* . . . . . . . . . . . . . . We have survived, haven’t we? It is debatable. Since 11:59 of October 31st turned into 12:00 of November 1st I’ve been living and breathing my NaNo. Well, maybe not “living”. Because my NaNo has emphatically told me that it wants to live thus I must give up my life for a month for it. I am so bad at winning arguments. Every waking hour (and sometimes non-waking ones) has consisted of NANO. Not that I’ve let it…

*Cannot come up with title because NaNo is strangling me*

*Gasps* So you know how I’ve mentioned before that I have OCD tendencies? (At least I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned that. . .) I can get awfully obsessive with things and go a little, erm, overboard. Well, let’s just say when it comes to NaNoWriMo those OCD, obsessive tendencies rev up tenfold. Yes, that wordcounter is right. I’m halfway to 50k just 4 days into NaNo. O______O Someone make me stop. Please? I can’t. . .seem to. . .stop. . .writing. . . *gasps* I feel horrendously guilty if I’m not writing at every single waking second. Even right now…

The Sound of Anticipation

Shhh. Listen. Can you hear it? That’s the sound of anticipation, excitement, and maybe a little bit of fear. It’s the sound of blank pages moments away from exploding into life. Of writers all over the world hovering over their keyboards, itching to paint with words the tales inside their minds. It’s that quiet moment, the calm intro, before everything bursts forth. NaNoWriMo has loomed before us but its moment has almost arrived. At the gong of midnight, keyboards everywhere will be rattling with the click click click of their users’ fingers, flowing forth the stories that have long awaited…

More Green than Envy – NaNo ‘13

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge the closeness of NaNoWriMo? *noises of panic resound* Ahem. Better yet, let’s not. Well, over the last two weeks I’ve introduced my main characters, Leiden and Darven, the ones I shall be typing madly over for the entirety of November. Now we know who I’m writing about, but exactly what am I writing for NaNo? Well, when I first participated back in 2010 I started the first book of a series about dragon riders. Ever since, I write each book of that series for each NaNo. This being my 4th NaNo I…

Beautiful People – Darven

In last week's post I was talking about how I’m working on developing my two main character for my novel, More Green than Envy, for this year’s NaNoWriMo. Last week I did a Beautiful People for my elf, Leiden. This week I’m doing the same for my other MC, Darven Morshar. Darven is just about as opposite from Leiden as a person can get. He’s a recluse fellow, not having much to do with people. He gets easily annoyed (especially with overly energetic, talkative people. . .like Leiden *cough*). His life hasn’t been an easy one, making it where he…

Beautiful People – Leiden

NaNoWriMo is approaching, people! Like… almost 3 weeks away approaching! *gasp* Currently I’m working on planning my NaNo novel, More Green than Envy (or trying, it’s kind of been a crazy week). In preparation I’m working on my two main characters. I think I write better when I know my characters pretty well. So, one of the best ways to discover one’s characters is Beautiful People. It always helps so much! Today I’m doing Leiden Irethen. Leiden is a young, male elf with far too much energy. He’s the jester of the group and a just all around fun guy.…

To Which I Celebrate

*Passes around cookies and cupcakes* What am I celebrating exactly? FREEDOM!!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Okay, sort of but not exactly. In truth, I’m celebrating the end of EDITING. Yes, editing. I’ve mentioned my endeavor of the terrifying world of editing here for the past few months I believe. And, at last, I am DONE. Which makes me feel free. Secrets of Camelot is the book I’ve been editing. And I say editing but, honestly, there was probably a good deal more rewriting than editing during the process.…
