The Genie Can Dance {A Faylinn Short Story}

I have a new Faylinn short story, and this one may be my favorite yet!  For Newcomers: Each month Arielle posts a prompt on her writing blog that goes along with Fairy Tale Central's featured fairy tale. I’ve been writing prompts for it of a continuing story about a wingless fairy and banished prince, Raylinn and Finn, or “Faylinn” as is their designated ship name…and their tag along sassmaster, Zayd. The Previous Stories: Deal or No Deal (A Rumpelstiltskin-inspired story and the first introduction to these characters) Let Down Your Hair?  (A Rapunzel-inspired story) It Ain't Easy Having a Genie…

Frogs and Bears Make Great Boyfriends {A Short Story}

It is time for the fourth addition of my ongoing “Faylinn” short stories—a series of short stories inspired by Fairy Tale Central's featured fairy tale!  For Newcomers: Each month Arielle posts a prompt on her writing blog that goes along with FTC’s featured fairy tale. I’ve been writing prompts for it of a continuing story about a wingless fairy and banished prince, Raylinn and Finn, or “Faylinn” as is their designated ship name. The Previous Stories: Deal or No Deal (A Rumpelstiltskin-inspired story and the first introduction to these characters) Let Down Your Hair?  (A Rapunzel-inspired story) It Ain't Easy…

July Hiatus Notice + Fairy Tale-ish Announcements

SO. Apparently it’s JULY. (Hooowwww???) Today I have a couple of exciting fairy tale-related news to share. Buuut also if the title didn’t give it away… I’m going on a hiatus for this month. Why am I going on hiatus when I literally did this already through all of March? Wellll, this just happens to be REALM MAKERS MONTH. As in the writers conference I’m going to later this month (*screeches*). And, frankly, life has been craaaaazy lately. Due to sickness and friends coming out of town to visit and balancing two blogs now, I haven’t had as much time…

It Ain’t Easy Having a Genie {An Aladdin Short Story}

It’s short story tiiime. Raylinn and Finn return! Or “Faylinn” as is their official ship name. I absolutely love that I’m at the point where people are asking for a ship name. I always feel like my story has peaked when that happens. XD For any newcomers: Each month over on the blog I co-author, Fairy Tale Central,  we feature a specific fairy tale. To go along with it, Arielle posts a writing prompt over at her writing blog for anyone to participate in! I’ve been using the same characters for my prompts. Each story is more or less a…

Let Down Your Hair? (A Rapunzel Short Story)

I have returned with another Raylinn and Finnigan short story for you guys! Okay, so you might not know what I’m talking about? Over on my other blog I co-author, Fairy Tale Central, we feature a specific fairy tale each month. As part of that, we thought it’d be super fun to have a writing prompt to go along with that month’s featured fairy tale. Thus, on the 3rd of each month, Arielle posts the prompt over on her writing blog, Intuitive Writing Guide, which you can then take, write a piece inspired by it, and leave a link so…

Deal or No Deal {A Rumpelstiltskin Short Story}

As part of Fairy Tale Central, Arielle, Faith, and I thought it’d be super fun to share a writing prompt each month that goes along with that month’s featured fairy tale. We can then take the prompt and write a piece based off of it on our personal blogs AND have YOU GUYS do the same if you want. That way we can share ALL the fairy tale love! It’s just so, sooo much fun reimaging fairy tales. And this is a great, quick way to play around with all the many possibilities. If you missed it (thought probably not…

The Plot Holes of Rumpelstiltskin: Finding Story Inspiration Within Fairy Tales

As you all probably know (since I’ve been screaming about it endlessly now) Fairy Tale Central went live last week! And we’ve had such an abundance of enthusiasm. We are DELIGHTED at the overwhelming response we’ve received. It’s been the most amaaaazing week interacting with you guys and sharing our first posts. GAH. I’M SO EXCITED. Each month over there we’re focusing on one specific fairy tale. If you’ve visited the site, then you know for our first month we chose Rumpelstiltskin. Yes, that story of a strange little man who can unexplainably spin straw into gold has been such…
