The Child Within

I believe that we should never let go of the child within us. Children look at the world as something brand new and exciting. They seek out to explore and discover all of God’s creations. Even the simple things are delightful. Their imaginations are endless. Beautiful things are always seen through their eyes. They grin at strangers. Their love is given freely. They believe in the impossible. Children find joy in thing adults take for granted. They do not spend their days fretting; they play and explore and see each day as something wondrous and new, not something to dread.…

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! Image via Little Birdie Blessings Today, thinking about the blessing of freedom, reminds me of that beautiful freedom we have in Christ. Jesus died on the cross to unlock the chains of sin around us. He set us FREE. If we have accepted Him as our Savior, never again do we have to be weighed down by the burden of sin. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 No matter where we are or where life leads us, we will…

Beautiful

You know what? Life is beautiful. Summer days are beautiful. Quiet moments are beautiful. Loud moments are beautiful. Are not even rainy days beautiful? We get so caught up in life, sometimes it slips our mind how beautiful it can be. We forget that every bloom, every ray of light, every drop of rain, was created by the Ultimate Creator. Even if the rainbows of life seem few and far between, don’t forget that there would be no rainbows without the rain. Don’t forget that even the worst of storms put us in the greatest of awe. Don’t forget that…

Whimsical Grey

Do you ever have those days where you feel whimsically grey? It’s those days where you feel melancholy, but in a good way. The days where you want to be alone to just bask in the quiet beauty of life. Creativity flows within you on these days. If you’re a writer, you might find yourself spending all day in a quiet corner tapping peacefully on your keyboard. An artist could be spotted with pencil in hand, looking out their window and copying the scenery before them. A photographer may discover themselves leisurely wandering in the woods, snapping pictures of nature.…

20 Random Things About Me

You may or may not know… 1. I somehow manage to be both a loner and a social butterfly. 2. I would say I’m far closer to being an extrovert than an introvert though. 3. Owl City and Chris Tomlin are my favorite singers/bands of all time. 4. I love heights. 5. Due to number 4 it’s my dream to one day fly in a hot air balloon. 6. My biggest fear is drowning. 7. The ocean kind of terrifies me. 8. I love to sing but don’t think I actually have a good singing voice (at all) and will…

Shine!

In Isaiah 60:1 the Bible says: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.” The Lord wants us to arise and to SHINE. Why is that exactly? Let’s look at the verse following. “For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and His glory shall be seen upon thee.” Jesus is the very light of the world, but, unfortunately, darkness covers the earth. As Christians, we have that light of Jesus within us. Our very purpose is to let…

Contentment

Sometimes I see life like looking through my window. Beyond it, I can see beautiful things—trees flourishing, birds soaring overhead or singing happily in the trees, the cats and dogs running around in blissful freedom—but I’m behind the glass panes, unable to reach the beauty before me, trapped in a humdrum place dreaming of a day I’ll step beyond the window panes into something greater. With these thoughts, discontentment sets in. I’ve been pretty discontent for the last couple of years. Life just hasn’t been everything I wanted it to be. But isn’t that silly? Life isn’t supposed to be…

Happy New Year? Oh yes!

First of all, I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year, late though it may be. I, personally, am always very excited about a new year. To me, it is like a blank canvas sitting before you. You do not know what will fill in the blankness, what the coming days will bring. You wonder by the year’s end what that canvas will look like, what memories have been painted on it, forever etched onto its surface. The start of a fresh new year is an exciting time, full of anticipation to see what the days will…

All Done!

FINISHED!!!! As of Monday afternoon, at 143,310 words, I am officially finished with writing my NaNo 2012 novel More Purple than Amethysts. I was determined to finish this story up before New Year’s because I have so many other writing projects I want to work on during 2013. I was terrified I wasn’t going to make it though. By December, I looked at my outline and groaned at how much more of the story I had left. The incentive to finish was with me though as I thought of all the other things I wanted to work on, and I…
