The Great Big Post of Awards {Part Two}

And I am back with yet more awards! In last week's post I explained how I’m a bad blogger and take ridiculous lengths of times to get to awards and tags, if I ever do at all. But I love these things and must start doing better! So I’m trying to catch up on them. Back in May (yes, May) one of my favoritest peoples Deborah @ The Road of a Writer awarded me with the Liebster award. Thank you so much, Celti dear! <3 ~Rules~ 1. Thank and link back the person who nominated you 2. List eleven facts…

The Great Big Post of Awards {Part One}

I fail at blogging quite often. It’s true. For example, if some sweet blogger passes an award my way, it may take me months to get to it, if I ever do. Which is silly, because I adore tags and am always so thrilled and honored to have one given to me. Being as how I’ve spent the majority of the year so far writing, I’ve been setting aside all the wonderful awards passed my way for a time. And now, finally, I’m getting to some! There are four (yes four, I told you I’m horrible) so I’ll post two…

Changes, New Adventures, and Lots of Feels

For a long while now my ol’ blog and myself have needed to undergo some changes. And thus this week I set out on the (not exactly) grand adventure of doing just that. Firstly, you may have noticed I don’t pen under the name Lauriloth anymore. If I have hopes of ever getting published I figured I might need to start looking a smidge more professional. (Although I still have delusions of being an elf. We can just pretend, right?) But don’t you worry, I’ll still always be Lauri, so feel free to address me as such if so desired.…

Contradict

Sometimes I like being in the midst of a crowd, then other times I prefer solitude. Usually I smile at the sight of sunlight, yet often I relish the sound of rain tapping on the rooftop. I love when life takes a busy turn, but I also enjoy the quiet, lazy days. Noise—children playing, the TV going, music blaring, people chattering—thrills me, yet silence comforts me. I adore lyrical music, and instrumental. I’m an extrovert, but have introvert tendencies. I really dislike touching, but I hug everybody. I love the outdoors, but I. . .hate the outdoors. I’m extremely organized,…

“I don’t know who I am.”

Isn’t it funny how we can go almost our whole lives thinking we dislike something, only to discover we like it quite a lot? For 20 years of my life I thought I didn’t like cheesecake. Then one day I gave it a shot. Guess what? I now sing ballads with my little sis about our love for cheesecake. Give me a slice and you’ll have a very happy Christine. I tend to do this a lot in life. A few years ago, if you asked me do I like sci-fi, I would have made a face and given you…

Joy, Love, and Giveaways

It happens from the very beginning. We gather our dolls and stuffed animals, dressing them all up for the big "wedding" of Mr. and (soon to be) Mrs. Bear. We borrow Mother's dresses and have a make-believe ceremony under the tree in the backyard. As we get older we get even more serious about it. We hear a song that would be perfect for the big day. We make pinterest boards to plan out our entire wedding. (Yes, I have one of those.) We wonder how many kids we'll have and already start naming them, middle names included. (I already…

Turning Goals into Reality

January, what an exciting month! A time for new beginnings, promises to live better, create lists, get organized. That time of making resolutions and embracing them. Well, my January has been full of recovering from Christmas, having the time of my life out of town at a friend’s house, and then coming home to the flu. Not much of a chance for making those resolutions and turning them into reality. But, thankfully, the flu has left our household and life is settling back into normality. And though January is almost behind us, it’s never too late to make those New…

20 Random Facts About Me Tag

Belle over at In My Life made a fun little "getting to know you” tag that I couldn’t resist snagging. Tags are always fun! And if you don’t follow Belle, you should! She’s such a sweet person and has a delightful blog. 1. What are three of your hobbies? Writing, obviously. Does reading obsessively count? I do it so much I think it qualifies as one of my hobbies at this point. *nods* And playing the piano. 2. What is your favorite season? Used to it was Spring, but that’s switched over in just the past year or two to…

New Years Tag

This tag seems to be floating around the blog world and I couldn’t help but take part in it. I might be a little late, but better late then never, right? What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before? Rewrite a whole entire book. It was a big leap for me. As you probably know by now, I’ve always been terrified of rewrites. *shudders* Did anyone close to you give birth? Yessss! My bestest friend had her first baby. A little baby boy and the cutest one you’ll ever see. AND my cousin had the most precious…

Courageous

Ever since the New Year hit, I’ve been seeing all over the place people choosing a single word to live by for the entirety of the year. I don’t know how I’ve missed this until now. When I saw it, I fell in love with the idea. I think we could all use a word to grow in. A word to draw us closer to our Savior. A word to shape us into better people, to make us more like Him. Something to use as the foundation of our year, to expand on. I knew I wanted a word. I…
