The Olaf Award

My dearly blogging friend Kiri nominated me for a very fun tag. . .like a few weeks ago. *cough* But better late than never, right? (And technically I have at least 3 other tags passed my way as well, but I might wait until July to get to those when things have hopefully settled down for me AKA when I finish the book I’m tirelessly writing.) This tag, as described by the maker, is “a blog award dedicated to the glories of Disney animation.” Pretty epic, is it not? Who doesn’t love the Disney animated movies? Olaf Award Banner Because everyone loves Olaf! ~Rules~
1. Answer the award questions.
2. Pass the award on to however many bloggers you choose, using the same or your own questions. Quite simple! ~Questions~ 1. What is your favorite Disney movie of all time?
That would absoluuutely be Tangled! It’s got Flynn, a way fun heroine, Flynn, frying pans, Flynn, a hilarious horse and frog—ahem chameleon, Flynn, awesome plot, and did I mention Flynn? Okay, okay, I don’t love it just because of Flynn (but Flynn <3). Tangled - Where's the Crown 2. Of the three newest Disney films (Tangled, Brave, and Frozen), which is your favorite?
*points up* I think I’ve got this question covered. But Brave and Frozen are completely delightful! 3. Do you tend to prefer Disney films made prior to the 2000s or those made more recently?
Hmmm. . . That’s an interesting question. Tangled, Brave, and Frozen all happen to be 3 of my favoritest animated movies of all time, BUT then you got Winnie the Pooh, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, The Aristocats, Robin Hood. . .I mean, come on, people! All those classics are AMAZING. So I guess maybe possibly I’d say prior to the 2000s, even though Tangled is my favorite. 4. Who is your favorite character in Frozen?
My. . .favorite. . .character. . .? WUUUUT? WHAT. I think I love Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven equally! They’re all so spectacular in their own special way and just asdlkjflskjdf. I CAN’T CHOOSE. I love ALL the characters!!! *huggles them* Except Hans. I do not love Hans. . . >.> Frozen Cast 5. Everyone loves Disney music. Any movie whose soundtrack you particularly enjoy? Limit yourself to three.
TANGLED. (Seeing a pattern here?) I listen to that soundtrack practically daily (and if I ever get married highly considering having “I See the Light” at my wedding). As for two more. Um. . . Probably The Little Mermaid, she always had my favorite singing voice of the princesses and the songs in that film are just so fun. And thennn Robin Hood, maybe? Who doesn’t love those songs? But maybe Beauty and the Beast. . .or Frozen? GAH. I don’t KNOW. I don’t really have a top three! Tangled - I've got a dream “I have dreams like you no really,
Just much less touchy feely,
They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny!
On an island that I own,
Tan and rested and alone,
Surrounded by enormous piles of money!”
Because we all know that’s the best. 6. In your opinion (similar to Question #3), has the quality of Disney’s film-making decreased as time has gone on, or has it only improved?
Wellll I think it’s increased a bit just for the fact that they’re bigger now, have more recourses, etc. But I also think the classics are so amazing because, well, they’re classics. It’s what we grew up on. Some our parents grew up on. They have this nostalgia to them that the new ones don’t because, ya know, they’re new. But the new ones have deeper, richer stories, while the classics are happy and nostalgic. And I’m not really going anywhere with this, am I? I’m mainly talking it through with myself because I don’t exactly have an answer. As I first said, their quality has increased due to better storytelling, bigger budgets, and more advanced technology, but there’s something about the classics that you just can’t remake, even when they try. Have you seen some of the sequels they made to the classics? No thank you! So, to answer the question (yes, you may sigh in relief), I wouldn’t say they’ve overly increased or decreased, it’s just different. Not necessarily in a bad way or a good way, just different. 7. Favorite Disney couple?
Want to take a guess at this one? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . FLYNN AND RAPUNZEL. Shocked, right? The obsession goes deep, people, deep. I mean. . . Flynn and Rapunzel Can you get anymore adorable? 8. Favorite Disney sidekick?
*sputters* Sidekick? MEH. WHY THESE QUESTIONS SO HARD??? Does the Mad Hatter count as a sidekick? I’m not sure he really does. But he is one of my favorite fictional characters in the history of ever, in all his forms. (Am I babbling to put off this question? Why yes I am!) ERM. *pulls at hair* Sidekicks. . .sidekicks. . . Maaaaybe Maximus. (Yes, another question answered with Tangled. Are you not surprised?) Who doesn’t love that mischievous horse? But then there’s Olaf, who is, well, Olaf. He doesn’t need a reason to be favorited. But then MUSHU. Who is just fabulous and hilarious in every way possible. And Dug, from Up. SQUIRREL. And does Dory count as sidekick? Can we just say ALL the peoples? Tangled - Maximus 9. What is the worst Disney film you’ve ever seen?
CINDERELLA 3!!! Remember when I mentioned them making sequels to the classics? NO. You do not touch the classics, you do not remake them, you do not try to change them, don’t even look at them! The classics are my babies and I do NOT appreciate them being tampered with. ESPECIALLY Cinderella, which happens to practically be my childhood. Just NO. Do you know what they did in that movie? Am I even allowed to speak the horrors done? They altered the entire timeline of the first movie, people!!!! Normally time travel and I get along swimmingly, and Cinderella and time travel? Okay, wow. Very interesting. Hahaha. . . NO. They basically erased all the events that happened in the first movie, ERASED MY CHILDHOOD, and changed it and I just can’t. I get so worked up when I think about it (if you didn’t notice) that I can’t even acknowledge the existence of that movie. *shakes it off and moves on* Dishonor on you 10. Lastly, what is one lesser-known Disney film you’d recommend?
Uh. . .we’re still keeping to animated stuff, right? Is Oliver and Company very well known? I never see anyone ever mention that one but ooooh my goodness. I watched that so much when I was little it’s ridiculous. That movie is FAAABULOUS. Or. . .I think it is. I can’t even remember the last time I saw it. o.o Oliver and Company Poster Okay, this was spectacularly fun! Hope you all didn’t mind the many rambles. Disney and I run deep. Thank you SO much, Kiri, for passing this on to me! Now my turn to share it as well. . . ~Nominees~ Deborah (Or Celti as I fondly call her)
Belle
Sarah
Jack
Lisa
And here is the list of questions for you to answer. I’m just going to use the same ones I was given because they’re a lot of fun (and I’m too lazy to come up with any myself *cough*). ~Your Questions~ 1. What is your favorite Disney movie of all time?
2. Of the three newest Disney films (Tangled, Brave, and Frozen), which is your favorite?
3. Do you tend to prefer Disney films made prior to the 2000s or those made more recently?
4. Who is your favorite character in Frozen?
5. Everyone loves Disney music. Any movie whose soundtrack you particularly enjoy? Limit yourself to three.
6. In your opinion (similar to Question #3), has the quality of Disney’s film-making decreased as time has gone on, or has it only improved?
7. Favorite Disney couple?
8. Favorite Disney sidekick?
9. What is the worst Disney film you’ve ever seen?
10. Lastly, what is one lesser-known Disney film you’d recommend? Don’t forget to be “happy snowmen!” out in these summer months! *wink* Happy Snowman

Ahaha, this was great! XD You're funny, Lauri! ^_^ I love how into Tangled you are. 😉 HEEHEEHEE! And yay Flynn!! 😀

Thanks for the tag! I'm not sure if I'll get to it or not with all my busyness (slow down, life!), but it's so nice to be given taggy awardy things. <3

Hehehehe. Thank you! ^_^ The obsession is strong, what can I say? FLYNN. <3

Oh, don't worry about it one bit! Sometimes I don't do tags myself. Life doesn't always allow for such things (silly life). There is absolutely NO pressure to do it!

Bahahaha! I loved this! 😀

YES! Tangled is amazing and totally deserves to be in every single one of the questions. I mean, I love Frozen and all, but Tangled is… Tangled. You just can't top that.

#8 and #9 made me laugh. Yes, indeed. Disney sidekicks are amazing. I FORGOT ABOUT DORY!! How could I forget her?? Oh, the shame. Yes, yes, Mushu you're completely right – Dishonor on me, dishonor on my cow. Did I ever mention I love that GIF?

AND… SERIOUSLY?? Sequels?? The only excellent sequel I've come across is Toy Story 2. Pixar, at least, knows how to do sequels. I liked TS2 & 3 better than Toy Story… can ya imagine it? Okay… I thought Cinderella 3 wasn't horrible. *hides in corner* I liked how they had the prince prove his love for Cinderella by rescuing her rather than just declaring her the love of his life after one dance. Yes, I love the original classic still. Cinderella 2, on the other hand… ugh. Don't get me started. Okay, and I will admit that Aladdin and the King of Thieves is okay, too. I liked the story about Aladdin's dad, although I thought the antagonist was… weird. But other sequels? *shakes head* Nopity, nope, nope, nope.

Hee. Thank you! So glad you did!

TANGLED. THANK YOU, KIRI. It seems like the majority of the earth now is all about Frozen and favors it over Tangled while I'm over all, "BUT TANGLED, PEOPLE! D:" Frozen is AH-MAY-ZING. But yes, Tangled. It needs no reason to be the best.

The sidekick question! I'm honest to goodness still trying to figure out which is my favorite, 24 hours later. There's just so many good ones, I think it's impossible to choose just one!
Oh, the irony of forgetting Dory. XD
That GIF…hehehe. That's probably my favorite Disney line ever. Everything Mushu says is so quotable.

Ugh, yes, the sequels! I just can't. I didn't think about Toy Story, I liked both of those sequels, the 2nd one especially, and then the 3rd made me bawl. But I still like the first best. I'm sorry but I CAN'T imagine liking the other two better. :O AND you didn't hate Cinderella 3? KIRI. GO TO YOUR ROOM. Ahem, okay, okay. I do actually see your point. The plot of the first IS pretty ridiculous, but it's just such a huge part of my childhood I don't take kindly to them messing with it. Oh goodness gracious, I hated the 2nd one almost as much as the 3rd. I just can't with those movies. >.>
I forgot about the Aladdin sequels!!! I do actually like those. Or…did. It's been SO many years since I've seen them I hardly remember them. But when we were little my brother and I devoured them.

*goes to room*

*timidly peeks out and offers Lauri virtual lets-be-friends-again cookies*

I know, I know. I'm despicable. I think of Cinderella 3 merely as an adaptation, not a continuation. And there's a difference. It's a "what-if" spin that intrigues me. I mean, who thinks of handing the magic wand over to the stepmother? Sure, all those times Cinderella almost got her happily ever after drove me nuts (i.e. she touched his hand and got banished; he rescued her and she was sent to drive a pumpkin; the marriage took place, but it was Anastasia). It was an annoying deja vu.

But yes, I know exactly what you mean about the original being a part of your childhood. You just don't mess with people's childhoods. And that's that. The Disney classics were a big part of growing up (for me, especially Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast), and you don't mess with that. But… there are classics I won't defend. Pinocchio and Dumbo… eh. Yes, I'm saying that to be difficult. 😉

Cookies?

*shifty eyes*

Okay, we're friends again!

Hahaha. No, I'm just messing with you! I actually agree that it was a very intriguing plot. The stepmother getting a hold of the wand was a VERY interesting idea. Overall it was pretty fascinating for a Cinderella sequel. I was just upset that Cinderella never knew the first events that had happened to her. Change and me don't settle well together.

Precisely! Oh my goodness, Peter Pan!!! That was another one I watched practically daily. I cannot even express how much I love that one. Cinderella, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and The Aristocats were the main ones for me when I was little. I LOVED Beauty and the Beast, but I don't think I realized how much until I got a bit older. Now it's my top favorite fairytale in all its forms period. Pinocchio and Dumbo? Meh. I'm totally with you! Those were never my favorites. I did enjoy Dumbo but it was just so…sad. It's basically about animal abuse! Which is something I can't handle so yeah, not something I wanted to watch all the time. And it was an extremely rare occurrence for me to watch Pinocchio. I just do not enjoy that movie. It may be because my biggest fear is drowning, so. Unless it traumatized me when I was little and that's why I'm so scared of the water. o.o

*squeals* YAY!!!:D

Haha your answer to #1 XD

Finally, someone else who acknowledges Brave's greatness!!!!;) Though I have to say, I like the two sequels to Cinderella better than the original. Well, I think I do. I'd have to watch the original again. Anywho. I just love some of the lines in Cinderella 3: "Ooh, a stick! Let's beat her with it!" "Grace and poise, my dear, grace and poise." I will admit, however, that I don't really care for the storyline. Too weird. And as we all know, I am COMPLETELY DISINTERESTED by anything REMOTELY WEIRD (says the strange girl who actually rather enjoyed the cheesy film known as John Carter…*ahem*…).

Ooh, if I remember correctly, I really enjoyed Oliver & Company too!

Out of curiosity, did you enjoy the new live action adaptation of AiW? Just wondering:)

Anyway sorry about the long comment. I had so much fun reading your answers!! God bless!

This tag was so much fun, Arwen! I'm so glad you started it! 😀

BRAAAVE!!! I'm kind of obsessed with that movie. They could have…ahem, left a couple of parts out, but overall I LOVE it.

WHAAAAT??? Like the Cinderella sequels better? *sputters* Hehehe. Just kidding! We all have our own interests and opinions, and that's what makes the world so great. If we ALL liked the same thing then something would definitely be wrong. I think I'm just biased since I grew up on Cinderella. As in watched it pretty much every day for the first few years of my life. XD

John Carter? *shifty eyes* I…I…kind of thought that movie was epic.

Oliver and Company is fabulous! Another one I watched over and over and over again. I was also obsessed with cats at the time, so that one and Aristocats were definitely favorites.

Alice in Wonderland? The one with Johnny Depp? I LOVED IT!!!! I totally loved how it was a sequel to the original Alice story instead of just a remake. It made it really fascinating. That's another thing I might be biased on though because I basically love ANYTHING Wonderland. I have a seriously unhealthy obsession with it. Like…you have no idea. o.o

No, no! I LOVE long comments. Thank you for coming over here! ^_^

Haha I understand where you're coming from;) That's sort of how I am with "The Swan Princess." That was sort of my childhoodXD

Yay! So you liked JC too? I thought I was just the weird one out;) Oh. Have you seen Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time? Oh my. I hearts it so much.

Haha actually I think I do have an idea, because I have a friend who has just such a love of WonderlandXD

Anywho loving your blog!

The Swan Princess was great!!! We never owned that one though, so I didn't get to watch it a whole lot. My best friend, though, was OBSESSED with it when she was little.

I do! It was a really cool movie. Both my brother and I loved it.
PRINCE OF PERSIA. THAT MOVIE IS FABULOUS. It's so funny you asked because I literally rewatched it just a few days ago. Such a fun movie!

Hahaha! Awesome! Wonderland is the best. It feels like home to me because I'm crazy. 😛 I think I'm the only one that reads the book or watches adaptions going, "Yep, this makes perfect sense" but that's just how my brain works. Wonderland and I fit very well. *grins* "We're all mad here."

Awww, thank you so much! ^_^

HAHAHA!! This is hilarious! Love it! :] I will have to tell my family I've found someone who love Tangled maybe even more than I do! ;D You are too funny. I totally agree with you regarding sequels to the Classic Disney films. Horrible! Although, I did rather enjoy the Ariel's Beginnings. . . What do you think of the new Maleficent movie? Have you seen it yet? I have to say, Sleeping Beauty has always been a favorite, and now it seems they are changing EVERYTHING! NOOOOoooooooo!!! I've heard it's supposed to be good, but I'm afraid my heart is hardened towards even wanting to watch it. . .

Thanks for the tag, my long-lost sister! Have a great week!!!

*grins* Thank you! Hehehehe. Yes, the obsession is strong.

Yes, sequels are the worst. *shudders* Ariel's Beginnings? I don't think I've seen that.

I have not seen the Maleficent movie yet but I want to SO bad!!! D: I understand you're wariness though. I'm usually okay with live action remakes though, since they're not really trying to change up the animated classics. They're just so different I don't really group them together. Also, in all honesty, Sleeping Beauty was never my favorite so I guess I'm not quite as scared with them messing with this one as I would be with some of the others. *ducks* Sowwy! I liked Sleeping Beauty a lot! It just wasn't one I watched often.

You are most welcome, Twinsy. You as welll! ^_^
