Know the Novel – Part Three: Words Written // A Writer’s Linkup

DECEMBER HAS ARRIVED! And my excitement knows no bounds. Not only is this one of the best months of the year, but it also means I can take a nap words have been written.

No matter what fall looked like for you, I do hope you take a moment to reflect on everything you accomplished. Every effort you put into writing that story in your heart matters. Every single word adds up. Every moment spent in your creative pursuits builds that muscle and grows you. And it all deserves to be celebrated.

Part 3 of Know the Novel is about reflecting. Looking at the journey through a bird’s eye view, remembering the good and the bad but knowing it was all worth it, and planning for the future.

So let’s begin!

KNOW THE NOVEL

What is Know the Novel?

Know the Novel is a 3-part linkup series for writers, one for each of these last three months of the year. Each part will feature ten questions you can answer on your own blog (or anywhere else on social media, if you’d like!). The questions will be focusing on different parts of your novel and how the writing is going.

The linkups go as followed:

OCTOBER

  • Part One: Introduction – In which everyone introduced their brilliant novel ideas! You can find the links to everyone’s posts HERE!

NOVEMBER

  • Part Two: Within the WIP – November saw much frenzied typing and said ideas coming to life, and it was a joy to be a part of! This month we all shared the process and reassured our friends we were, in fact, still alive (maybe). See all the posts HERE!

DECEMBER

  • Part Three: Words Written – At last we come to the final month! We can now pull the curtains back wide and reveal the ups and downs and craziness of how all our mad novel writing pursuits went overall. See the questions below!

In Summary…

You can take the questions, answer them on your own blog, and share your link in the linkup I’ll attach below so others can read about your delicious novel-y goodness. Super simple and fun!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This linkup is open to any WIPs you have, whether you did NaNoWriMo, another writing challenge, or writing within your own time. The point here is to just have fun and share the novel writing process with others. You also by no means had to have joined in the previous linkups to do this one. Take any and all questions at any point in time. I would certainly be grateful for credit, but otherwise, there are basically no rules here. It’s simply for fun and to provide an easy way to keep your readers updated on your writing!

THE QUESTIONS

1. How did writing this novel go all around?

2. Did it turn out as you expected or completely different? How do you feel about the outcome?

3. What aspect of the story did you love writing about the most? (Characters, plot, setting, prose, etc.)

4. What was your least favorite part?

5. What do you feel needs the most work?

6. How do you feel about your characters now? Who’s your favorite? Least favorite? Anyone surprise you? Give us all the details!

7. What’s your next plan of action with this novel?

8. If you could have your greatest dream realized for this novel, what would it be?

9. Share some of your favorite snippets!

10. Did you glean any new writing and/or life lessons from writing this novel?

SHARE YOUR LINK

As always, I’d love it if you shared your link in the widget so everyone can read your posts!

Once your post is published, share the URL in the linkup widget below.

Part 3 of the linkup closes at midnight on December 31st. But absolutely feel free to answer these questions (or the questions in the previous linkups) ANY TIME! They’re free for the taking!

It blows my mind that we have already made it to December. But goodness gracious, am I excited. Time to embrace ALL the Christmas aesthetics and enjoy a month full of fun and relaxation.

But first…

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in this little tag of mine. It truly is a joy to host and see everyone’s beautiful WIPs and share this writing journey together. It fills my heart every year! <3

Happy December, my friends!
