We’ve made it to November! And that means Part 2 of the Know the Novel 3-part tag is HERE.
Hello, my fellow writers! November is usually a big month in the writing community. Whether you’re diving into NaNoWriMo or another writing event today or have reached the halfway point for FicFrenzy (but seriously, how are we halfway there already??), I hope the creativity is flowing, the words are coming, and, most importantly, you’re having fun. Writing can be…exhausting. But it can also be such an exhilarating venture, and I hope you don’t let the overwhelm of it bog you down but seek out the pure enjoyment of weaving beautiful stories from your fingertips.
It really is magic.
I know you have words to write, so let’s jump right into the info!
KNOW THE NOVEL
What is Know the Novel?
Know the Novel is a 3-part tag for writers, one for each of these last three months of the year. Each part will feature ten questions you can answer on your own blog (or anywhere else on social media!). The questions will be focusing on different parts of your novel and how the writing is progressing.
The tags go as follows:
OCTOBER
- Part One: Introduction – During October we were treated to learning about everyone’s WIPs and it was a DELIGHT. Thank you so much to all who participated. You can find everyone’s links HERE!
SIDE NOTE: Just because the official linkup is closed, doesn’t mean you can’t still use these questions! They’re free for the taking ANY time. A link back to my blog would be much appreciated, but otherwise use them however you’d like!
NOVEMBER
- Part Two: Within the WIP – For this month’s tag, we’re taking a peek at how the writing itself is going! Scroll down to find all the questions. These questions will be open all month, so feel free to take them to answer on your own blog or other social media platform at any time.
DECEMBER
- Part Three: Words Written – In a month, we’ll be bursting out (or perhaps crawling groggily) from our writing caves with many words under our belts. This final part of the linkup focuses on how the process went, the ups and downs of writing said novel, and a glimpse at what’s next.
In Summary…
For each month I’ll throw ten writing-related questions your way, you can take the questions and answer them on your social media platform of choice, and then share your link in the linkup I’ll attach below so others can read about your delicious novel-y goodness. Easy and fun for all!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This linkup is open to any WIPs you have. Whether you’re doing a writing challenge or writing within your own time, it matters not! The point here is to just have fun and get a chance to share your ideas with others. And you definitely do not have to do all three of the linkups. There are basically no rules here but to have fun!

I’d be honored if you used this graphic for your posts, but it’s certainly not required!
THE QUESTIONS
1. How’s the writing going overall?
2. What’s been the most fun aspect about writing this novel so far?
3. What do you think of your characters at this point? Who’s your favorite to write about?
4. Has your novel surprised you in any way?
5. Have you come across any problem areas?
6. What’s been your biggest victory with writing this novel at this point?
7. If you were transported into your novel and became any one of the characters, which one do you think you’d be? Would you take any different actions than they have?
8. Give us the first sentence or paragraph then 2 (or 3!) more favorite snippets!
9. Share an interesting tidbit about the writing process so far! (For example: Have you made any hilarious typos? Derailed from your outline? Killed off a character? Changed projects entirely? Anything you want to share!)
10. Take us on a tour of what a normal writing day for this novel looks like. Where do you write? What time of day? Alone or with others? Is a lot of coffee (or some other drink) consumed? Do you light candles? Play music? Get distracted by social media (*cough, cough*)? Tell all!
SHARE YOUR LINK
Once your post is live, I’d love for you to share the URL in the linkup widget below so we can all read your post!
Part 2 of the linkup ends at midnight on November 30th. Part 3 will be up at the beginning of December!
The crackle of creativity is in the air, and it thrills me down to my soul. Creating is such an important part of life. The world needs art, it needs stories, it needs the unique creativity only you can provide it.
I firmly believe it is worth the tired days, the discouragement, the hardships. Because stronger than those things is the beauty, the impact, the true power of a good story that can shake us to the core. Storytelling is a worthy venture, and if you have a passion to pursue it, if you have a story in your heart bursting to get out, I hope you don’t let anything keep you from telling it.
Onward and upward, further up and further in! Let’s go forth and CREATE.
I am positively stunned that November is actually here! Are you looking forward to the month? Are you participating in a writing challenge or just enjoying these fall days?
Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate and really reflect on my writing!
Thank you for joining in! It is such a pleasure to host–I always love reading everyone’s posts. I’m so glad it is a helpful tool for you! ^_^
