Changes, New Adventures, and Lots of Feels

For a long while now my ol’ blog and myself have needed to undergo some changes. And thus this week I set out on the (not exactly) grand adventure of doing just that. Firstly, you may have noticed I don’t pen under the name Lauriloth anymore. If I have hopes of ever getting published I figured I might need to start looking a smidge more professional. (Although I still have delusions of being an elf. We can just pretend, right?) But don’t you worry, I’ll still always be Lauri, so feel free to address me as such if so desired.…

Christine’s Writing Life – The Writing Process Tour

One of my bestest besties Celti/Deborah from The Road of a Writer passed a tag my way, which I am quite ecstatic about. I’ve seen this tag floating around and thought it looked spectacular. I’m so excited I’ve been given the opportunity to participate. Thank you, Celti dear, you’re the best! <3 Also, everyone go to her blog. Yes, now. She is a delightful human being and basically the best. So go, enjoy her charm. Now then. This tag, as its name suggests, basically focuses on the life of us crazy writers and how we go about *le gasp* writing!…

Fallen Matter Snippets

Hello! I do hope you all had a most fabulous July Fourth weekend. Mine was quite lovely, and I am late to my normal Monday posting because of it, but that’s all right. So, in honor of finishing Fallen Matter and all that excitement, I thought I’d share some snippets with you. This book is still extremely first draft-y, so be sure to read at your own risk. Don’t want any eyeballs melting or other such inconveniences.   ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ A sense of…

Only the Beginning of the Adventure

“I’m falling.” Those two words popped into my brain on December 10th whilst doing my nightly teeth brushing duties. “Huh,” I thought, “that’d be an interesting way to start a story.” These thoughts buzzed louder than my electric toothbrush, festering and growing. A whole prologue of a girl falling through nothingness had come alive by the time I was ready to rinse and spit. Hurrying to my room, I pulled out my Author’s Journal and scribbled the few nonsensical lines down. “Someday that could be cool story,” I said to myself as I slipped the little journal back on the…

Meet the Characters

Hello, hello! I seemed to have survived another week of CampNaNo, 17k words in, and my sanity is still (somewhat) intact. It’s a miracle! In honor of CampNaNo, I thought I’d introduce my cast of characters. I’ll probably be talking about Fallen Matter for a good while. It has sort of taken over my life since December after all. So take a peek inside my mind for a moment and see who all is currently invading inside there. (WARNING: Injuries, emotional and/or mental scarring, and sanity being taken may occur upon entering Lauri’s mind. It is advised that all who…

Bumping Along Week One

Greetings and salutations! (Wait, aren’t those two things the same?) Today I hail from an imaginary tent with a laptop that magically never runs out of power, since there are no outlets here in the wild. Convenient, huh? We are one week into CampNaNo and things are going well. . .I think? This first week was a little bit rough, being as how all our supplies were taken by a group of flying monkeys and then there was that landslide. And I’m having to type with one hand because my other is in a brace after that dragon incident. CampNaNo…

Embarking on (not quite) Camp

Oh, hello there! Excuse the mess. *scoops up laptop, piles of paper, pens, and pencils and tosses them in a suitcase* I’m headed off to camp you see, and trying to get ready. It’s a month long camp that starts tomorrow. But don’t worry, I have no intention of stepping out of the house to get there. That’s right. This is no ordinary camp. It’s a camp for my imagination. Camp NaNoWriMo!!! Yep, yep, yep. I’m jumping on the CampNaNo bus and headed off to the trail of creativity for the month of April. For those of you who don’t…

“I don’t know who I am.”

Isn’t it funny how we can go almost our whole lives thinking we dislike something, only to discover we like it quite a lot? For 20 years of my life I thought I didn’t like cheesecake. Then one day I gave it a shot. Guess what? I now sing ballads with my little sis about our love for cheesecake. Give me a slice and you’ll have a very happy Christine. I tend to do this a lot in life. A few years ago, if you asked me do I like sci-fi, I would have made a face and given you…

Friendly Advice {February’s Chatterbox}

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m participating in a delightful linkup hosted by Rachel Heffington at her just as delightful blog The Inkpen Authoress. Do go check it out. She just released her first book, Fly Away Home, and it looks absolutely scrumptious. I’m dying to get my hands on it. Anywho, this linkup is called Chatterbox in which each month she gives a topic for you to create a conversation between your characters revolving around said topic. (Or at least I think this is how this thing works, I’m new to it, so hopefully I’m doing it right.) This month’s topic…

Turning Goals into Reality

January, what an exciting month! A time for new beginnings, promises to live better, create lists, get organized. That time of making resolutions and embracing them. Well, my January has been full of recovering from Christmas, having the time of my life out of town at a friend’s house, and then coming home to the flu. Not much of a chance for making those resolutions and turning them into reality. But, thankfully, the flu has left our household and life is settling back into normality. And though January is almost behind us, it’s never too late to make those New…
