Five Favorite Comfort Films

Comfort films—those movies we turn to again and again in the midst of turmoil. The ones that calm our soul, bring a dose of cheer, that feel like a hot cup of tea on a cold day, filling our insides with goodness and warmth.

As much as I adore books, I am also a huge movie fan (and even more so with TV series, but that’s a topic for another blog post). I just like good stories, guys! In all their forms. And though usually I am all for tales of epic quests and exciting adventures and end-of-the-world stakes (*cough*LOTR*cough*), sometimes my soul needs something softer. Something gentle and cute and heartfelt that shows me the joy in the little things, that adds a touch of whimsy to the mundane, and reminds me that the world really is a beautiful place. The ones that will promise me a smile no matter how dark the days may seem.

So today I am going to share with you five films that do just that, and give you a little peek into my happy places.

FIVE FAVORITE COMFORT FILMS

THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH

I had actually talked about my complete love for Winnie-the-Pooh not too long ago, so this may not come as a surprise to many of you.

This film is probably my uttermost happy place (well, it and the Howl’s Moving Castle book, but I already did a whole post on that AHEM). This movie was my childhood. If I had to guess, I’d say it was my most watched childhood movie, one I’d put on and rewind once I got to the end over and over and over. When Pooh said at the end “Can’t we go back to page one and do it over again?” I took him quite seriously. I never wanted it to stop. The Hundred Acre Wood felt like my home. The way Christopher Robin played in the woods with his stuffed animal companions? That was ME. I was always the girl with a stuffed animal in hand wanting to frolic through the woods.

Every single time I put the movie on, I am instantly transported back to my happy childhood days. The sweet music, the soft animation, the characters and all their silly problems and hilarious antics—it brings me joy like few other things. When this movie is on, all is right with the world. There is no sadness or darkness. It is just Pooh and his friends living out their days in the homey Hundred Acre Wood.

Basically, if I am sad, just play this movie for me. It is an instantaneous mood changer.

The fact that the characters literally lived inside a book may have also added to my complete and utter love for this film.

(And I feel like I could spend this whole post listing all the classic animated Disney movies. Almost every single one of them is a comfort film for me since I grew up with them, but this one is definitely #1.)

TANGLED

My other topmost favorite animated film in all of existence. I could fangirl all the livelong day but YOU GUYS KNOW. I mean, it’s Tangled. There is not a single thing not to love about this film. So instead of talking about all the things I adore about it, I’ll just focus on why it’s such a comfort movie for me.

(Though I did do a group review of it a couple of years back over on Fairy Tale Central HERE if you really want my fangirly thoughts.)

First of all, I feel like the whole aesthetic of the film is my aesthetic. The painted art style to the cozy tower to the bright forest to the cheery castle town—hello yes I want to live there ASAP. The soft, enchanting, fairy tale feel makes me want to crawl into the film and never leave (so instead I just watch the movie 2893 times over). It is a feast for my eyeballs and makes the world look so…pretty.

Secondly, it’s such a happy film. Somehow they created one of the most chilling villains ever (Mother Gothel is messed up, guys) and still created something just downright fun. It’s a rip-roaring good time from Rapunzel bashing Flynn unconscious with a frying pan to a hilarious musical number in a bar to a daring escape from the castle prison. But it’s balanced out so perfectly with the softer scenes. Rapunzel and Flynn’s heartfelt talk in the woods. The floating lantern scene. Even, heartrending though it is, the moment Flynn is dying and they say they were each other’s new dream (brb SOBBING). This movie doesn’t try to tell a wild and crazy tale. It’s just about a girl who decides to leave her tower and discovers all the amazing things the world has to offer.

Thirdly, I felt such a kinship with Rapunzel the moment she came on screen. Her fears, her excitements, her innocence and joys. I think she is the type of protagonist so many of us can relate to. And seeing her face her fears while still holding on to her goodness resounds so deeply within me.

Watching this film for the first time in theaters was one of the most immersing, joyful experiences of my life. And it has been a film that has brought me abounding happiness ever since.

I mean just !!! I can’t even with this film.

CINDERELLA (2015)

The classic animated Disney Cinderella was probably my second most watched movie after Winnie-the-Pooh. Cinderella was always like a role model for me with her kindness and patience (two things I seriously needed more of). So when trailers popped up for a live-action adaptation of the classic film I was…worried. What were they going to do to my beloved film? Were they going to modernize this beautiful story and turn sweet, caring Cinderella into some tough, emotionless, “Strong Female Character”? How could they possibly do justice to the beauty of the animated movie?

WELL.

It took the film about 0.8 seconds to pull me in and sever all my fears. From the absolutely darling music to the lush, gorgeous setting to Ella’s bright smile, I was whisked away into a Cinderella story I didn’t even know I needed. Not only did it honor the classic animated movie, but it expanded it into something even greater (no instalove YAY!). Child Christine would be aghast at this confession but here it is: I like Cinderella 2015 far more than the animated one. YES. IT’S TRUE. Lily James brought to life my Cinderella. The kind, amiable one whose strength is found through her patience and gentleness. (My sister and I often joke that Lily James should play all the Disney princesses because AWK, she was just so perfect. XD)

It’s another one of those soft stories. Nothing grand and epic and overly dramatic. Just simplistic, and that is where its beauty shines. The lush, bright setting and sweet romance and beautiful reminder of the power of kindness and forgiveness stirs my heart. Whenever I need something to calm my soul, I put on the soundtrack and just soak in the gentle stringed music.

Honestly, I’d be hard pressed to think of a single complaint. And, well, I pretty much always have something to complain about with any story. *sheepish grin* But with this one? It set out to tell a beautiful fairy tale of courage and kindness, and it did it brilliantly.

Sometimes we all just need to take a moment to twirl. <3

CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

And we are back to the Winnie-the-Pooh obsession! And…more Disney. (Shhh, I have a problem.)

By this point Disney had given us quite a few live-action films adapted from their animated classics, such as Maleficent (helloooo favorite movie of all time after LOTR), Cinderella, and Pete’s Dragon—all of which I adored. So I was beginning to have a bit more faith in their ability to bring their animated films to life. (Well, except there was Beauty and the Beast, but I won’t get into that.) Although, I have to say, this seemed like an awful strange premise for a movie. An adult Christopher Robin??? A story where the Hundred Acre Wood and Pooh and friends are actually REAL? How would that even work with live-action? I feared it was just going to be awkward and strange, but held on to hope that they wouldn’t totally destroy my entire childhood. (Like with Beauty and the Beast *COUGH*)

As with Cinderella, as I sat in the theaters and the film opened up reading the very passages of the book, showing the adorable map of the Hundred Acre Wood, my fears vanished. And I cried. NO JOKE. We had not made it a full 30 seconds into the movie before I was choking up. Because suddenly not only was I experiencing one of my favorite stories of all time, but in a new way. I had seen the Winnie-the-Pooh movie so many times, getting to experience the story over again in a new format was…everything.

With this one, it truly felt like the writers got it. The care they put into the characters, the simplicity of the plot, down to the aesthetic, it felt so true to the original animated film AND the story A.A. Milne originally created. They could have so easily turned it into a wild, slapstick comedy full of cringe-worthy goofiness and caricatures of the characters we’ve all grown up with. But they didn’t. It held true to that old-fashioned charm few stories have anymore.

And the theme of returning back to one’s childhood joy and wonder resounded down to my core. I always saw my childhood self in Christopher Robin. And suddenly I found my adult self in him too. This movie spoke to my soul and touched my heart in the tender places, but filled it with a healing salve. Getting my beloved Pooh Bear in a whole new way was a gift. Though I’ve literally only seen this one two or three times, it’s one I know I will return to again and again and again when I need a good dose of charm and comfort and the sweet simplicity of childhood wonder.

Also Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell, guys! Apparently Hayley Atwell should just play all the Disney moms too.

Endless happy tears. <333

KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE

LOOK. It’s not a Disney film! The lone one in the bunch.

This is probably a funny one to add because not only have I just seen it once, but it was only a couple of months ago when I first watched it. YET. It’s one of those movies that I knew, right from the start, would be a happy place for me. My sister and I were watching it together, and by about three minutes in I turned to her and said. “Is it just me or is this one of the most delightful things you have ever seen?”

It’s about a young witch, Kiki, who sets off to spend a year on her own in a new town as is tradition for witches. Sort of their initiation. Except, Kiki can’t really do anything but fly on her broom. So she starts a delivery service. UPS on a broom, if you will.

This is one of those Studio Ghibli films that doesn’t really have a plot, but you love it anyway because it’s just so stinkin’ charming (looking at you My Neighbor Totoro). The story literally just follows Kiki’s ups and downs as she tries to find her way in a new town and discover who she really is inside. It’s a coming of age type of tale. But for me it was so much more. Because it was also a love letter to creatives.

After witnessing how unkind people can be, Kiki falls into depression and soon finds she can no longer fly her broom. Self-doubt racks her violently, and she fears she will never truly find her way in the world, that all her worth is gone. Then a friend tells her she is simply suffering from artist’s block, and that she needs to stop trying so hard and instead go for walks, look at the scenery, doze off at noon. Eventually, she’ll be flying again.

“We each need to find our own inspiration, Kiki. Sometimes it’s not easy.”

As a writer, the themes of this film touched me deeper than few other stories have. I saw myself in Kiki, accidentally putting my worth in my creative pursuits instead of as a human being. Allowing the hardships of the world attack my joy of creating, and forgetting to turn away from all the ugliness and let the simple, beautiful things in life fill up my soul.

I went in expecting a cutesy, silly, little anime film, and instead was gifted with a story that explores the hardships and wonder of following one’s creative passions.

BUT. It is, in fact, also a cutesy anime film. Themes aside, it’s just ADORABLE. I loved the setting of the seaside town and the cozy little bakery where Kiki sets up her delivery service. And if you’ve ever watched a Ghibli film, you know they excel at romanticizing the mundane things of life. Plus, this one is a bit…tamer and quieter than some of the others.

Though Howl’s Moving Castle is my top favorite Ghibli film, Kiki comes as a very close second, and is definitely the most peaceful one I’ve seen so far. I already know it’s one I shall be returning to again when I need a dose of comfort, happiness, and something to inspire my creative soul.

Honorable mention to Whisper of the Heart, another Ghibli film that has much of the same themes (it’s, in fact, about a writer!) and is absolutely precious.

“We can fly with our spirit.”

And that, my friends, is five of my most favorite comfort films. The ones I can always trust to give me a smile or touch my heart when I need it the most. Or just give my eyeballs a feast with all the soft, lush colors and settings. (Hey, I’m a very visual person. The aesthetics are sometimes just as important to me as the plot. *grins*)

Now it’s your turn! I absolutely want to know: What’s your favorite comfort films? And what do you think of mine? Do we share any?? What is a defining factor that makes a movie an instant comfort film for you? Give me all your thoughts!

YES to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh!!! I’m also a firm fan of Tangled and Cindrella (2015), but that Winnie the Pooh movie was my childhood. Pretty much the ultimate comfort film. <3

Yes to all of these!! (Except I haven’t seen any Studio Ghibli films yet, but I’ve been hearing so much about them lately; I should totally watch some of them! Especially Howl.) I absolutely adored the 2015 Cinderella, and I absolutely agree that it’s better than the animated one. Tangled…yes, yes, yes, one of my top favorite Disney animated movies. And Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh…😍

I love your comfort films!

I’m not sure how I managed to miss out on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, because I would have LOVED a movie that’s set in a book!

TANGLED YES BEST ANIMATED MOVIE EVER! Definitely one of my comfort films, too.

Ahhh the 2015 Cinderella was amazing!! I need to rewatch that one sometime soon…

Christopher Robin! I watched that one while on the plane to Poland (before COVID, of course), so I have overwhelmingly positive associations…but even independent of that, they did such a good job with it! It was amazing! (Especially Eeyore.)
(But actually…I really loved the live-action Beauty and the Beast? Possibly because I’ve never watched the original? And also, I love Emma Watson? *hides* (Yes, I was irritated about the whole LeFou thing. But. Emma Watson.) (Look, it’s not my fault I’ve never watched the original, my family watched it without me while I was at youth group. XD)

I’ve never seen Kiki’s Delivery Service, but I really want to!!

I have SUCH weird taste in comfort films. I was actually just talking to my sister about this the other day–the first film that pops to mind as a comfort film (after The Princess Bride, of course, but that goes without saying) is National Treasure. XD Idk, that’s just 100% what I would watch if I was sick (which is my criteria for a comfort film, generally speaking). Secondary comfort movies include Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and also probably Age of Ultron. XD

Awww, these are all great picks! I love all of these! And I love your thoughts about the Kiki themes — it’s a new one for me too but so adorableeee! I don’t know what my comfort-films are?? But I certainly adore LOTR, How to Train Your Dragon, Howl’s Moving Castle, Prince of Persia, and The Avengers… maybe those are my comfort films? 😀

Hmm, let’s see…

Winnie-the-Pooh?
ADORE IT A.A Milne was such a talented writer and created a world that I would 100% run away to (with my sisters of course, for what is an adventure without sisters?)
Tangled?
Rapunzel and Eugene are the ultimate couple for Disney. They are JUST TOO CUTE (despite the fact that he broke the Disney musical film code and actually asked WHY everyone randomly broke out into song. That’s okay, we still love him)
Cinderella (2015)
I loved this film and all the dresses *squeals in utter delight* As a fashion fanatic (yes that’s a thing) I simply adored all the outfits and the Ella’s blue butterfly ballgown?! *dies*
Christopher Robin.
It made me laugh when Christopher Robin was trying to hide Pooh from his nosy neighbor. It made me cry when he lost Pooh, and the last time I watched it was when I had to wake up at 7:30 A.M. to do something, thus rendering me useless for the rest of the day. (totally comfort-film worthy, Christine. Bravo.)
Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Welp *giggles sheepishly* haven’t seen it, only pictures, but I have decided that her kitty is darling (then again, ALL kitties are darling.)

BRB, going to have a movie marathon…

Seriously, I admire how you narrowed this down to just five movies. I could never.
Secondly, I have only seen Tangled and Cinderella off this list. And I’ve only seen Cinderella once.
I really want to watch Winnie the Pooh soon. I just finished reading the first Winnie the Pooh book and I absolutely adored it! It was such a homey book. And I mean, I suppose for someone who dreams of writing a book about stuffed animals, it was perfect. (seriously, I mean…if my Stones ever become like the animals of the Hundred Acre Woods I would probably cry)

I would probably add Enchanted and Lilo and Stitch to this list. I love them SO much! No comfort film could ever top those two for me.

Anyway, great post Christine! You’ve got me in a movie-watching mood!

Christopher Robin is the best!!! I felt that film so much because it’s about growing up and losing your childhood sense of wonderment and then finding it back again – my favourite scene is when Christopher Robin hugs Pooh in that meadow. I didn’t cry through – it takes a LOT for me to cry when watching or reading something. My favourite film is 2019 Little Women – it resonated so much with me and I love it to bits! Any Disney film gives me comfort actually, but my faves are Big Hero Six and Raya and the Last Dragon (have you watched the last one? If you haven’t, then you should!)
Great post!

Yessssss, comfort movies!

Tangled is one of my favorites—she’s my favorite Disney Princess and it’s one of my favorite fairy tales. I didn’t get to see that one in theaters but if it ever makes a return, I’d love to see it there. I’ve heard the lantern scene was STUNNING on the big screen.

And Christopher Robin! I’ve only see it once but I really need to rewatch it! It was so much fun and so cute and just…I loved it.

My favorite comfort movies would probably be the Middle-earth movies (especially LOTR and An Unexpected Journey—the Shire is, like, peak cozy aesthetic XD), While You Were Sleeping, Pride & Prejudice, and Emma (even though this one is a miniseries I always end up watching it all the way through like a movie, hehe).

Yesssss, the 2009 is so good! I’ve seen a few other adaptations but that is by far my favorite Emma. (The casting! The cinematography! The balance between humor and feels!)

My comfort films include the 2009 BBC Emma series, Christopher Robin, National Treasure (yeah it’s just awesome), Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, I Can Only Imagine, The Princess Bride, and The Christmas Card. 🙂

I really need to watch some more Studio Ghibli films, I keep hearing about them (actually, I’ve seen Howl’s Moving Castle, didn’t love that in part because I love the book and only recently learned it was Studio Ghibli).

Cinderella 2015 is definitely a comfort film for me too, aesthetically its just “me” and I also often have something to complain of, but this is pretty perfect.

The Apple Dumpling Gang movies. Friendly Persuasion. 2008 Emma. Ever After. Some Hallmarks. Bringing Up Baby, Monkey Business, Roman Holiday, How to Steal a Million. My Man Godfrey. The Thin Man Mysteries (yes can be scary, but there is still something relaxing about old mysteries plus Nick and Nora are hysterical).

Pirates of the Caribbean isn’t exactly relaxing and yet I’d still say the first three are rather comfort films if I avoid parts I don’t like.

Hi Christine! How are you?

I just ADORE the Cinderalla (2015) movie!! Can I just have her gorgeous ball gown?! *wonders where I’d actually wear it* *decides that it doesn’t matter cause it’s AWESOME*
Yes! Lily James is AMAZING!!!

And I love how Flynn (aka Eugene) is the first Disney prince to break the stereotype! (I remember when we first saw the movie we couldn’t stop laughing; it was so hilarious!)

I also love the Christopher Robin movie (have you seen the animated Pooh movie from 2011?)

I’ve never seen Kiki’s Delivery Service; though I have seen The Secret World of Arriety (and I love the animation. I used to play the Professor Layton nintendo games, and that movie reminded me of the game’s asthetic!)

So yeah, those three (Cinderella, Christopher Robin, and Tangled) are definite favorites of mine *and glances at list of so many others* But I won’t get into that. Otherwise we’d be here all night XD

Ah, I’d be up for a part 2!

Yes! Professor Layton all the way!

Oo, did I forget to mention that aside from Flynn I also adore Kristoff from Frozen? Those two are definitely the best princes (or Disney dudes!)

And yes! Definitely check out the 2011 Pooh film (and bring tissues ’cause it’s so sweet!) 🙂

TANGLED!!!!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! (I’m the kind of person that doesn’t choose favorites for things, but TANGLED! How could I not choose a favorite?? XD) I LOVE Tangled so much!!!!! Eeee, I just want to squeal with delight at the mention of it!!!!!😁 It’s definitely a comfort film for me! I also love the 2019 Aladdin, and the 2015 Cinderella is so inspiring!!!! (Also, I agree that Disney could have made better decisions with Beauty and the Beast . . . .) But anyway, I loved reading this post, Christine!!!!!! 😀 And now I want to go watch Christopher Robin again because I forgot about how awesome it was!!😉 XD

Victoria
June 3, 2021 11:03 AM

*GASPS* Um, YES to all of these!!!! (Well, I’ve actually never heard of Kiki’s Delivery Service before, but it looks so cute!) I’ve seen the rest of these though and after reading this, now I wanna go rewatch them again! XD (Especially The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh–I haven’t seen that one in a loooong time.) But Cinderella? Ohhhhh man. I definitely agree that the 2015 version was way better than the animated one!!! (For one, the prince actually had a real name…) XD Also, Hayley Atwell is BY FAR the Disney Mom™. XD Honestly, the fact that she can play a sweet, caring mother in some movies and then turn around and play a gun-wielding, hand-to-hand combating special military agent in others just proves how awesome of an actress she is in general. XPP

In addition to the ones on your list, some of my other favorite comfort films would be Captain America: The Winter Soldier (I literally have every scene in that movie memorized) XD, The Finest Hours (which I 100% recommend watching if you haven’t!), the 2019 Aladdin, aaand the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice!!! (‘Cause Colin Firth is everything in that movie.) XD

OH. ALSO, ALSO, ALSO. I started The Lunar Chronicles over the weekend and *dies* THOSE BOOKS. WHY AM I JUST NOW READING THEM!?!?!?!? I’m on Cress right now and I gotta say, all of those boys (Kai, Wolf, and Thorne) have stolen my heart, hidden it somewhere, and I’ll probably never find it again. XD (I just met Jacin a few chapters back and still don’t know what to think of him, but…eh, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt for now.) 😉 BUT WOLF. He’s probably my favorite so far (Thorne close behind, ’cause that dude is just life) XD but Wolf…like, IS HE NOT JUST A BOOK VERSION OF BUCKY BARNES??? He’s seriously mah boi and needs to be hugged until the day he dies (which *whimpers* I hope never happens.) XD *takes deep breath* So yeah. I’m…not sure where my mental state will be in after reading this series, but IT’LL SO BE WORTH IT. (And, it sounds terrible, but if Levana dies, I will be the happiest person ever. I just…ugh, I can’t even think about her right now. *shudders*) So there’s my fangirling! (Although, I could go on but this comment is already way too long to be legal…) XD

*High fives you back* IKR!?!?! Haha, YES! Bring on Atwell, Disney!!! You need to get her into more of your stuff! 😉

SAME, girl!!!! Oh man, you HAVE to see The Finest Hours! It definitely is a suspenseful edge-on-your-seat kind of movie (and based off real events), but has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen! It’s also *cough* conveniently on Disney+ too… 😉 YESSSS on Aladdin!!!! It’s actually my favorite Disney fairy tale remake, but the Cinderella one is absolutely right behind it! 😀 (Besides, Will Smith as the Genie is the BOMB!!) XD *GASPS* YES!!!! Girl, you have NO IDEA how excited I am to find another BBC P&P fan!!! Lots of people I know seem to prefer the Keira Knightly one too, but that one just did not cut it for me. (And for some reason, I’m not a super big fan of Keira Knightly’s acting in the first place… *slowly shrugs*) XD But for the BBC one, I seriously don’t see how it could get any better. *happy sighs* The costumes, the romance, the banter, that dancing, Collin’s creepy wave, the poor nerves of Mrs. Bennett…it’s a comfort film if I ever saw one! 😉

*SCREAMS WITH YOU* YEEESSSS, I’M FINALLY READING IT!!!!!!!! XD ;P Oh my word, the characters are more than e v e r y t h i n g!!! Lolol, Thorne is just a RIOT (his snark and charisma is THE BEST)!!! XD (And when paired up with Cinder? I’m pretty sure they could top even the snarkiest person alive.) 😛 Aahahahahha!!!! I know!!!!! It took the breath out of me when I made that realization! XD Ah, yes. I think I am going to end up liking Jacin, but *shakes head* I definitely agree that with the Big Three up against him, he stands zero chance. XD Oh man, I don’t think I’ve ever come across someone as…annoyingly creepy as Levana. I think Fairest tells her story though, so that will be an interesting read (but I always think it’s cool learning about the villain’s backstory.) 😉 YESSS, SO AM I!!!! Awww, thank you!!! I’ll definitely have to do that!! (Especially if the series ends as awesome as I’m hoping it will!) XD 😀

June 6, 2021 2:06 PM

Ohhhh, YES! I’ve seen Maleficent and that was a super sweet movie! (Angelina Jolie did a FABULOUS job and TOTALLY nailed the snark and sarcasm!) XD

IKR!?!? Marissa Meyers did an AMAZING job with making each of her characters so lovable but unique at the same time! Oh, okay, thanks for the heads up!! If that’s the case, then I’ll probably skip that book. (A friend of mine had been wary of reading TLC because of some content in the later books, so I bet that’s where most of it came from.) BUT YES. I’m super excited to read Winter!!! She was just mentioned in Cress so my interest has really been piqued with that! 😉

This post made me so happy and now I just want to go and binge all my favorite soft, comfort movies! <3
Ahh, I haven’t seen the first or last on your list but all the rest I know are so amazing. I just re-watched Christopher Robin and my heart! it’s beautiful!! *cries* AND TANGLED. YES. YES. YES. Everything about it is just…absolutely glorious.
A few of my favorite cinematic happy places are Up, Big Hero 6, Emma (BBC 2009), Little Women (1994 becuz it is my childhood), and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe because Mr. Tumnus. And Lucy. (the entire narnia book series is one whole pile of comforting beautifullness to me.)
Also. The Lord of the Rings. Just because of course it is.

I loved this post so much and my mood has improved dramatically just from the gifs. ;D <3<3<3

Such great films! I used to love the Winnie the Pooh movie when I was a kid, though I think I actually liked The Little Mermaid more, so…. 🤷🏼‍♀️ haha sorrynotsorry. 😜

TANGLED!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh, my baby!!!!! I ADORE Tangled—it is my top fave movie of all time and I will never get tired of it even though I think my family has, haha! Rapunzel and Eugene are THE BEST EVER and I will stand by that until my dying day. I just love them so muchhhhh!!!!!! This movie is the whole reason I started writing to begin with, so I owe it a TON. 😍😍😍😍

Cinderella and Christoper Robin—yes, yes, yes!!! I LOVE these two! I actually watched Christoper Robin after seeing you mention it in a blog post, and I loved it! And Cinderella is just the best—Ella is such a strong character without fighting skills that I find fascinating to pull off in a story well which they did in spades with this movie. I admire her so much. ☺️

I was also wondering about your opinion on blogs? See, I’m not on Instagram anymore due to not agreeing with their privacy policies, and I’ve seen some of my favorite bloggers doing less there and more on social media which kinda leaves me out of the loop a bit, and I guess my question is as an aspiring author who wants to publish someday, is a blog still a good option for marketing, connecting with fellow readers and writers, etc? I was also thinking of starting a YouTube channel too, but I wanted to know your opinion on doing a blog as well. ☺️

I hope you have a great weekend!

Very much want to go back now and re-watch Winnie the Pooh and relive all the childhood feelings. *sniffles* It might just be the very definition of a comfort film! <3 And also super funny. My siblings and I quote Rabbit’s “I don’t think so! It isn’t meant to be!” frequently. XD

TANGLEEEED. I will never not grab an opportunity to fangirl over Tangled, even if it’s just incoherent screeches. LOVE THAT MOVIE SO MUCH. It’s just so perfect. <3 And you’re SO right- it’s such a perfect balance of lighthearted and serious! It’s ridiculously funny and FUN, but those other, not-so-lighthearted scenes? They’re not lacking at all. I clearly remember the day after I first watched it- I was literally at the zoo with my family and my thoughts were on Tangled the whole day. It just stuck with me, especially Flynn’s death and just… GAHHH. (yeah, the “you were my new dream” thing? *SOBS*) Did I mention how perfect that movie is? Because that movie is perfect.

AHHH CINDERELLA! I just re-watched it again a few days ago and MY GOODNESS. I think it gets better every time I see it. (That’s the mark of a good movie, right there. If you enjoy it more with each time you watch it? You know you’ve really got something good.) I just love Ella so much, and the movie is just so beautiful, and Kit is so charming (no pun intended hehe), and I would literally die to have a dress like that. XD ALSO a perfect movie.

ALSO YES TO CHRISTOPHER ROBIN. I really need to watch it again because I’ve only seen it once, but I remember loving it! The music at the beginning got me, too. *sniffles* And HA, I guess you’re right. Hayley Atwell SHOULD just play all the Disney moms. xD

*dreamy sigh* I now want to go back and watch alll these movies over again. What a perfectly lovely list of comfort films. <3

*melts into happy puddle*
I was so happy when I saw Tangled, cause it’s one of my favourites, but honestly it was Cinderella (2015) that got me so hard with happy emotions. I love that film SO much. Every time I have watched it, it fills me with so much joy (and sadness because it’s so sad in four scenes and they break me each time). I relate to Ella so hard, and the theme, “have courage, be kind” is so my thing. Because of how amazing this film is, I know it affects how I enjoy the other live actions. None of them are better than this one. *all the heart eyes*
Oh, I was wondering how you felt about Christopher Robin when I was reading about The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I really enjoyed that film more than I thought I would (because I’m skeptic and doubt any goodness of a live action based off the animated version until I watch it). I’m really glad to hear that a fan like you enjoyed it (because that’s where it should count the most).
Ohhh, I must watch Kiki’s Delivery Service. It just sounds amazing.

This post alone gave me all the comfy-cozi feels!!! ^_^ I haven’t seen Kiki’s Delivery Service yet, but all the rest… so much YES!!!

Pooh Bear was definitely my childhood, watching the Many Adventures or some of the other movies (Piglet’s Big Movie, The Tigger Movie, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie) Awk! All the happy feels!!!

Some of my comfort films are The Quest for Camelot, The Swan Princess, Anastasia, and The Little Mermaid. <333
