Goodbye, January. Hello, February.

So apparently January is over and February is here. (Um, what?) Usually I don’t do monthly wrap-up posts. I don’t have a reason, really. I get distracted by other post subjects to write? I’m too lazy to actually remember what happened during the month? *shrugs* But I know it’s a pretty big trend right now, and I actually love reading other people’s monthly summaries, getting a glimpse into all my buddies’ lives and goings-on. So I thought, why not? I seriously doubt this’ll be a habit. But today I just felt like writing a wrap-up post, and usually this blog…

Retelling Stories Vs. Changing Stories

A week ago I went to the theaters to see the new Pan movie with a tinge of excitement and a bucket-load of wariness. On the one hand, COOL PETER PAN THINGS; on the other hand, Peter Pan movie that looks nothing like Peter Pan. You see my problem here? You should know, I’m a diehard Peter Pan fan. I loved Peter Pan before I even heard of Tolkien and Lord of the Rings and the like. Peter Pan was one of the first things to introduce me to fairies and fantasy lands. Neverland is like my childhood home. So…

That Time I Painted a Pumpkin, Accidentally Got a Job, and Didn’t Have Fun Adulting

Sometimes very unexpected things happen in life. Some are good, such as accidentally getting a job even though I wasn’t exactly looking for one. Some are bad, like getting stuck on the side of the road. My week was filled with both kind. But hey, at least it wasn’t boring. It all started with this adorable little secondhand bookstore in our town that we frequent often (because we all know I have an obsession with secondhand bookstores). Recently they moved locations and were so busy with that, Mom and I thought it wouldn’t hurt for me to ask if they…

The Bookshelf Tag

So lately (oh, who am I kidding? Since I started blogging) I’ve been the worst about not doing tags. I LOVE being tagged and am always so thrilled and honored when people pass them my way, and yet half the time I forget about them and never do them. I’m a horrible person, I am! It’s not ingratitude, it’s just a bad memory and laziness. Horrid. With that said, there was one tag I promised myself I was absolutely not going to forget and would do. It’s a tag all about my bookshelf and the books thereon. How could I…

Finding the Magic Cover Reveal

Do you know how sometimes you read a story and it sticks with you? It clings to your heart and when life gets hard it creeps up to your mind and makes you smile. Well, I am beyond ecstatic to be revealing the cover for one of those stories today! One of my very dearest blogging buddies, Jack Lewis Baillot, is soon releasing her Beauty and the Beast retelling novella and I cannot be more thrilled. I had the honor of beta reading it and knew right away that it NEEDED to get out in the world. I so want…

Of Roses, Dreams, and Bubbles

It’s a bit funny (and maybe a tad annoying) how quickly I can change my mind about something. Really, I never make up my mind about anything. I float on a bubble of indecision, being tossed to and fro in the wind. Remember my story Fallen Matter? If you were around here any time last year I’m sure you do. That’s basically the only thing I blogged about all year. Saying it took over my life is a bit of an understatement. It consumed every fiber of my being. As a result, I had every intention of rewriting it this…

6 Authors Who Deserve a Lotta Love {Love an Author Month}

Yesterday over at Go Teen Writers Jill Williamson proclaimed February Love an Author month. I think this is a fantastic idea! All those loveable books on our shelves were put there by a lot of work. The author behind our favorite tales wouldn’t be able to write those stories without their fans. They can’t keep producing stories if they’re unable to get readers, nor would they want to if no support ever came their way. We writers are a delicate people, am I right? A little support and encouragement can go a long, long, long way. Jill Williamson shared a…

“Not All Those Who Wander are Lost” {Lord of the Rings/Hobbit Tag}

“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” My sweet blogging friend Arwen (whose blog is private, so no links I fear) has put together an absolutely brilliant Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit tag and passed it my way. I may have squeed with excitement a teeny bit. Naturally. Thank you so much, Arwen! Off we go then, to roads unknown and adventures grand! Erm. . .I mean to the tag. Yes. ~Rules~ -Link back to the…

THAW Series Launch {Wintry Fairytale Retellings}

To me, nothing compares to a wintry day snuggled under the blankets with a good book. There’s something special about overcast skies and foggy windows coupled with a warm drink and book in hand. We still have a few frosty days left this winter. And guess what? A new book series that goes perfectly hand in hand with these frigid, cozy days has entered the world just in time. Exciting, I know! Author E. Kaiser Writes has just released the first 3 books in her THAW series, and do these books ever sound scrumptious! I’m aching to get my hands…
